Françoise Voranger | Founder

Françoise comes from generations and a lifetime of dance and acrobatic expression. She began her career as young as 6 years old and continues to work with the some of the greatest and most beautiful dance and circus companies in the world. Her performance work has appeared with Universal Circus, Cirque Du Soleil and Benois de la Danse. She has received commissions to create work for Lincoln Center, the New Victory Theater and the Hannover Theater and has been a grant recipient of the Jerome foundation and the Burning Man Org (with Nikki Ortiz). Francoise is the founder of Hybrid Movement Company where she creates visions, makes movement choreography, animations, and collaborates.

 

Andrea Nicole Ortiz (Nikki) | Collaborator

Nikki began exploring movement through dance, rhythmic gymnastics and yoga. In 2015 Nikki won the USA National Yoga Asana championship under the mentorship of Jared McCann. She has been a collaborator with Hybrid Movement Company since 2018 choreographing, performing and working on scenic design, Nikki works as contortionist and hair suspension artist. Her performance work has appeared at The Brooklyn Museum, The Whitney Museum, Little Cinema and The House of Yes amongst others. Her collaborations with Hybrid Movement Co were awarded a Burning Man grant and have been presented at Lincoln Center Jazz. 


 


Anthony (Grasshopper) Mitchell | Collaborator

Grasshopper has been a professional contortionist and aerial artist for over a decade and has collaborated with Hybrid Movement Company since 2014. He was trained at the Lighthouse Academy of performing arts in Binghamton, NY in acrobatics, contemporary, and modern dance through whom he earned multiple National titles. Grasshopper starred in the burlesque revue “Star Boys” at the Crown & Anchor.For four years he co-produced FEMME, a resident queer party at Club Cumming which won a Glad’s “Best Bar Party” award in 2019 (featured on vice.com).
